Thursday 20th October

What does a truly inclusive school culture look like and how do we get to this point?

This session will look at how to create a culture within your school community where everyone feels a true sense of belonging that enables them to be their authentic selves. We will explore how to measure your starting point and on-going progress through regular audits and stakeholder feedback. A complete review of the educational experience your school offers will enable you to reflect on whether the diversity within your school body is able to have true agency. The aim is for this session to provide a helpful guide and prompt reflective thinking and questions in a safe space.

Location: Grand Salon
Location: Terraza
The sharing sessions will consist of each of around five or six schools giving a five minute presentation of something that they have been doing related to the topic, followed by a short round of questions.

EquipMySchool, Stuart Rickard - Let’s stop using spreadsheets for our overseas procurement!
StuartSpreadsheets are boring and rapidly becoming outdated in the modern world where there is an app for just about everything. So why are we still using them to coordinate the overseas orders in our International Schools? Procurement is such a small part of your responsibility, so why does it take up so much of your time each year? Let me walk you through how the EquipMySchool Procurement Portal works and discuss the ways it will save everyone in school time, allowing your teachers to get back to doing what they do best and all without using a spreadsheet!

Stuart Rickard, alongside Helen Cox, founded an International School supply company, called EquipMySchool.com, 14 years ago with a simple mantra: always keep your promises. A born digital native, Stuart has an intrinsic understanding of software, hardware, systems and processes; he loves ice cream and evenings in with a roaring log fire and his family of four. Fourteen years later and the “.com” part of the company name is finally making sense. He's here to tell you why.

GL Education, Sarah Abad Murillo - Student wellbeing: the missing piece of the data jigsaw
Sarah AbadAs education moves out of the pandemic, the lasting effect on students is still there for all to see. Research has shown that student success is underpinned by wellbeing, and the last two years have required a greater focus on wellbeing than ever before. Whereas once before teachers may have mainly focused on their fragile learners, now there is a need to get a complete understanding of all students’ context and needs. During this session, GL Education will outline the ‘three a’s’ of the data triangle, that being attainment, ability and attitude. The session will explore how we can use this data triangle, with an emphasis on wellbeing, to help every student meet their potential and thrive within the ever-changing school environment. The session's objective is to equip schools with the principles of data triangulation and an appreciation of the importance of the wellbeing component in their analysis.

Sarah is an experienced Assistant Head in primary education and an education consultant specialising in EY & primary education now working with academies and trusts, to support their assessment strategies from EY through to KS5. Sarah joined GL Education in 2019 bringing her expertise and knowledge of education to help schools and MATs with their assessment practices. Sarah gives advice, training and insight to schools both in the UK and internationally, on how to get the most from standardised assessments to better understand students’ potential, attainment and potential barriers to learning.

Oxford University Press (OUP), Maria Angélica Araya - Oxford International Curriculum
OUPOUP is proud to have a reputation for providing world class resources for centuries, up until now mostly focusing on providing resources for teachers and students. That’s why we are delighted to present our vision for the future of education, through the Oxford International Curriculum.

Maria Angélica holds a Bachelor´s degree in teaching English as a foreign language from Universidad de Santiago de Chile. Her teaching experience ranges from teaching young learners to adults. María Angélica joined Oxford University Press in 1995. Since then, she has been working as Senior Educational Consultant, revising and promoting appropriate materials for schools, as well as preparing and delivering  presentations and workshops.
