For more than four decades, the Independent Schools Cultural Alliance (ISCA) has partnered with leading international schools to provide transformative educational experiences that inspire curiosity, develop character and prepare young people for an increasingly interconnected world.

Our mission is simple: to help students become globally minded, confident and compassionate individuals who are ready to embrace opportunity, build meaningful relationships across cultures and make a positive contribution wherever life takes them.

Designed for students aged 12 to 15, ISCA is far more than a residential programme in Britain. It is a carefully designed educational journey that begins months before students travel to the UK and combines online learning, immersive travel, intercultural collaboration, personalised enrichment and structured reflection into one connected experience.

We believe that international education should do more than broaden horizons. It should change the way young people see the world and the way they see themselves.

A Year-Long Learning Journey

The ISCA experience begins long before students board a plane.

Throughout the academic year, students participate in live online learning with expert ISCA teachers and classmates from around the world. These sessions introduce Britain's history and culture while also developing the future-ready skills that will shape the residential experience.

Students explore topics including Britain's Ancient Past, Medieval Britain, Future Skills, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Public Speaking and other interactive courses designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and collaboration.

Perhaps most importantly, students begin building relationships with their international peers months before arriving in Britain. By the time the residential programme begins, they are not meeting strangers, they are joining a community that has already started learning together.

The three-week residential experience therefore becomes the continuation of an educational journey rather than the beginning of one.

Explore Britain

Britain becomes the classroom.

Students explore the country's history, culture, landscapes and institutions through carefully planned visits to iconic destinations, historic cities, universities, museums, castles, theatres and places of national significance.

Every visit has a clear educational purpose. Students are encouraged not simply to observe but to question, investigate, discuss and connect what they experience with wider themes of history, democracy, innovation, identity and culture.

Meet the World

ISCA creates a genuinely international learning community.

Students live, learn and travel alongside peers from schools across Latin America and around the world. Every shared meal, coach journey, project, excursion and conversation becomes an opportunity to understand different cultures and perspectives.

Global Evenings are a particular highlight of the programme. Students become the teachers, proudly presenting their own countries, traditions and cultures to the wider ISCA community, celebrating both the diversity and the common values that unite us.

Many students leave with friendships that continue long after the programme has ended.

ISCA has therefore evolved from a traditional knowledge-based programme into a modern, skills-focused educational experience.

Every student's ISCA journey is unique.

Alongside the core programme, students choose from a wide range of enrichment pathways that allow them to pursue individual interests while learning in small, collaborative groups.

Enrichment options include subjects such as Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Public Speaking, Photography, Creative Writing, Art, Music, Scholarly History, Reading, Global Debate, Outdoor Learning and Wellbeing.

These courses ensure that every student is challenged, inspired and encouraged to explore passions beyond the core programme.

Reflection That Creates Learning

Reflection sits at the heart of the ISCA experience.

We believe experiences only become lasting learning when students are given time to think deeply about what they have seen, heard and felt.

Through the ISCA Journal, small-group discussions and conversations with experienced staff, students regularly reflect on how each experience has influenced their thinking, challenged assumptions and helped them grow.

Rather than simply collecting memories, students leave with a clearer understanding of themselves, others and the world around them.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Learning at ISCA happens everywhere.

Students stand inside the places they have studied, debate ideas where history was made and experience Britain through direct engagement rather than textbooks alone.

Whether visiting Parliament, exploring medieval streets, walking through world-renowned museums or attending performances in historic theatres, every experience is designed to encourage curiosity, conversation and critical thinking.

Students also showcase their own learning through presentations, collaborative projects and entrepreneurship challenges, celebrating not only what they have learned but who they have become.

A Truly Global Community

Each July, students from schools across Latin America and around the world come together to create an exceptional international community.

Living together in boarding houses provides countless opportunities for informal learning. Conversations over breakfast, shared challenges, evening activities and friendships formed across cultures often become some of the most significant moments of the entire programme.

Students leave Britain with a wider perspective, greater cultural understanding and friendships that span continents.

Partnership with Schools

Exceptional international education is built on strong partnerships.

We work closely with Heads, international coordinators and accompanying staff throughout the year to ensure every aspect of the programme reflects the values and aspirations of our partner schools. From parent presentations, to payments and liability for the trip - ISCA manages every aspect of the programme.

We see ourselves as an extension of each school's educational community rather than an external provider. Open communication, experienced leadership and a shared commitment to student wellbeing enable schools to have complete confidence throughout every stage of the journey.
