The LAHC Annual Conference 2025 brought together school leaders, teachers, and partners from member schools across Latin America for three days of learning, collaboration, and inspiration in São Paulo.
Held for the first time across three venues — the main conference hotel and host schools St. Nicholas School Alphaville and St. Francis College — the event reflected the diversity and vitality of the LAHC network and offered delegates a firsthand look at innovation within member schools.
Educating for a better world
The theme this year was Educating for a better world.
Keynote speakers Santiago Rincon-Gallardo and Julie Stern inspired delegates to reimagine the purpose of education and explore how schools can move beyond test scores to focus on meaningful, transformative learning. They remained actively engaged throughout the event — attending sessions, visiting classrooms, and connecting with students and teachers across the venues.
The opening day also featured a powerful safeguarding session led by Maureen Fleming, LAHC Review Coordinator, with contributions from Colin Bell, CEO of COBIS. Guests from HMC and the IB also joined, strengthening international ties and enriching professional exchange.
At St. Nicholas School Alphaville, creativity and student voice took centre stage through interactive workshops, live performances, and the 2nd St Nicholas Music Fest — a celebration of collaboration and community in action.
The final day, hosted by St. Francis College, offered practical breakout sessions led by teachers from the host schools and other guests. The conference closed with a celebratory dinner honouring Dr Alan Downie, John Mackenzie, Head of Dunalastair School, and Derek Pringle, Head of Hiram Bingham School, for their long-standing contributions to LAHC, and welcoming Sofia Hughes as the new Executive Officer.
