Independent Schools Cultural Alliance (ISCA)

Founded by Teachers. Trusted by Schools Since 1982.
Educational programmes in Britain that develop globally minded students and internationally connected educators.
For over 44 years, ISCA has been bringing young people together through educational travel, cultural discovery and international friendship.
Founded by teachers and still run by teachers today, ISCA was created with a simple mission: to help students understand both Britain and the wider world through shared educational experiences.
Every summer, students aged 12 to 15 from schools across the globe come together to explore Britain's history, culture and institutions while living and learning as part of an international community. Along the way, they build friendships, develop confidence and gain perspectives that cannot be taught in a classroom alone.
Why Schools Choose ISCA
44 Years of Experience
Since welcoming our first students in 1982, we have remained committed to delivering high-quality educational experiences with student welfare, safeguarding and educational outcomes at their heart.
Meaningful Student Outcomes
Students leave ISCA with far more than photographs and memories. They return home with:
-
Greater confidence and independence
-
Stronger communication skills
-
Increased cultural awareness
-
Enhanced critical thinking
-
Lasting international friendships
-
A deeper understanding of Britain and the wider world
Many schools tell us that students return more mature, more resilient and more willing to embrace new challenges.
An International Learning Community
Students from across the world learn together, share experiences and develop a genuine understanding of different cultures, perspectives and ways of thinking. In an increasingly interconnected world, these experiences help young people become confident and empathetic global citizens.
Professional Development for Accompanying Staff
ISCA is not only valuable for students.
Accompanying teachers and chaperones become part of an international network of educational professionals. Through collaboration with colleagues from different countries and educational systems, staff gain fresh perspectives on safeguarding, pastoral care, student leadership and international education.
Many educators describe the programme as one of the most rewarding professional experiences of their careers, returning to school with new ideas, new partnerships and renewed enthusiasm for global education.
Designed by Educators
As a teacher-led organisation, we understand the priorities of schools. Educational value, student welfare, safeguarding and meaningful outcomes remain at the centre of every decision we make.
