JOB OVERVIEW

The Lancaster School is seeking an inspirational and visionary Headteacher to lead our school. Established in 1979 as a non-profit private school, Lancaster caters to approximately 630 students across two sites, offering a unique integrated programme that combines the Mexican, British and International educational systems. Known for its forward-thinking approach, the school places the individual at the centre of the educational process, prioritising skills and habits over mere exam preparation. For more information visit our website: http://www.lancaster.edu.mx.

Following a post pandemic period of consolidation, the school is embarking on a new six-year strategic development plan. The incoming Headteacher will take over a community characterised by a collaborative management style, an invested teaching faculty, and an engaged Board of Governors elected by the parent body. We are looking for an Invitational Leader: a superb communicator who can intentionally foster an environment of trust, respect, and optimism, ensuring every student and staff member feels "invited" to reach their full potential.

We welcome applications from enthusiastic, energetic leaders who share our commitment to inclusion, sustainable development, academic quality and a participatory and democratic educational philosophy.

ABOUT LANCASTER SCHOOL

Lancaster is more than just an academic institution; it is a diverse and inclusive community. Our student body comes primarily from professional families from academic, medical, and artistic backgrounds, creating a rich cultural tapestry.
Lancaster can offer you:

● Professional Trust: A collaborative working environment where most decisions are taken collectively and innovation is encouraged.

● Purposeful Mission: The opportunity to lead a school committed to social action, environmental awareness, and the inclusion of students with disabilities.

● Unique Culture: A relaxed yet rigorous atmosphere with no rigid dress codes, where respect is fostered through relationships rather than authority.

● Strategic Impact: The chance to shape the next chapter of a well-recognised institution with a solid financial and administrative structure.
Benefits

Lancaster School offers a comprehensive executive package in accordance with Mexican labour laws and international standards:

● Monthly Income: Competitive Salary commensurate with the experience and seniority required for a Headship of this scale.

● Housing & Transport: Accommodation: Rent-free, furnished housing.

● Health & Wellness: Medical Insurance: Major medical expenses and accidental injury coverage.

● Family & Education: Tuition coverage for the Headteacher’s children at Lancaster School.

● Relocation Support: Assistance with flight costs, visa processing, and moving expenses for overseas candidates.
Requirements

We are looking for an approachable and optimistic leader with relevant senior management experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

● Invitational Leadership: A commitment to the "5 Ps" (People, Places, Policies, Programmes, Processes), treating all stakeholders with authenticity and openness.

● Bicultural Vision: Deep understanding of bicultural education and the ability to innovate while respecting the school’s long-standing traditions.

● Academic Excellence: A strong background in the International Baccalaureate (PYP and Diploma) and Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum & IGCSE.

● Visible Presence: A leader who maintains a high profile across both school sites and enjoys direct interaction with students, including teaching a small number of classes.

● Linguistic Proficiency: Native-level English and fluency in spoken and written Spanish.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants should send a current Curriculum Vitae and letter of application, together with the names and contact details of three referees, to Eunice Hernandez ([email protected]), Vice president of the Board of Governors, no later than March 5th 2026.

The letter should address the candidate’s specific interest and reasons for wanting to live in Mexico and work at the Lancaster School. It should provide concrete examples of past achievements and successes that illustrate the qualities listed in the person profile and it should outline, in general terms, what the candidate would hope to achieve in the first two years in the position and their strategies for doing so.

Applicants should provide the name, position and e-mail of three referees who have worked closely with them in the last five years in an educational context. Please bear in mind the following points when naming referees:

• They must have worked with you directly and have been able to observe your work first hand.
• They must include someone related to your current or most recent position.
• They must not have any personal or family relationship with you.
• They should be prepared to verify and elaborate on their written reference by telephone, Google Meet or Zoom.
• They should provide a work/institutional email address.
• There should be three referees from a minimum of two different institutions.

Candidates will be filtered in the first instance on the basis of their written application and their written responses to a series of questions that will be sent to candidates whose initial application satisfies enough of the selection criteria to warrant further consideration. The second stage of the selection process will be an interview by Google Meet/Zoom during the month of April/May, and a maximum of 3 shortlisted candidates will be invited to a face-to-face interview in Mexico (travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the school).

The successful candidate will be notified immediately after the final interviews and will be expected to take up the position by 1st August 2026 at the latest.
